The Working Group on Digital History, convened under the auspices of the German Association of Historians (Verband der Historiker und Historikerinnen Deutschlands e.V.), was founded at the Association’s conference, the Historikertag, in Mainz in September 2012. The Working Group’s mission is to assess, make use of and make visible the potential of the digital humanities, also known as eHumanities, for the development of history as an academic discipline. While we work principally in accordance with the standards and interests of history research, we also offer related disciplines whose work extends into the field of history a forum for academic discussion and the exchange of ideas (further details here).
The Working Group is interested in co-organising academic events planned by other organisations. If you are preparing an event you think we might be interested in and would like to have us on board, please contact the spokesperson of the Working Group, preferably well in advance of the date of the event. You can email her at GWemail@example.com. We would ask you to be aware that the Working Group does not have any financial or organisational resources to contribute to such projects.
