The Working Group will organise special events, promote the building of networks and disseminate information to the end of supporting academic dialogue in the field, aiding the careers of young academics and representing the interests of this relatively new specialism within academia and to policymakers and the wider public. Over the next few months, we will be developing tools and resources which we will make available on this website. Further planned activities are as follows:

  • We will organise a central annual event, the first of which took place in autumn 2013 at the Georg Eckert Institute in Braunschweig.
  • The German Association of Historians’ biennial Historikertag will be the venue for the Working Group’s General Meeting, at which its managing committee will be elected.
  • The Working Group’s managing committee has agreed with the committee of the German Association of Historians that future editions of the Historikertag will feature six sessions reserved for issues in digital history. These sessions, like others, will be subject to competitive application. The newsletter of the German Association of Historians and this website will feature regular information on the Working Group’s activities.
