Between the „Marxist subversion“ an the „state terrorism“: forms of representation of the last military dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1983) at school (1983-2008)

  • Zeitgeschichte

  • Kulturgeschichte

Zusammenfassung der Promotion:

After the democratic opening in Argentina in 1983, the state has expressed the need to pronounce itself about the dictatorship experience, which began in 1976 with a military coup and articulated in the past thirty years various memory policies either critical or in reconciliation with the past. If the politics of memory is one of the possibilities in which societies assume responsibility for their own history (Huyssen A. 2002), the transmission of history and memory inside the school is the way in which societies are responsible in the process of transmission to subsequent generations. Diverse political and social actors (NGO´s, Government etc) represented at different times different interpretations of the dictatorial past. Therefore it can be deduced that within the school the representation of this past has also suffer transformation over the past 25 years. This representations to be taught are being built through educational policies on the memory and, not least, appropriated the changes of the “narrations” experienced in public space. (Although changes in society permeate schools.) These changes are not prescriptive but all these factors together reconstruct the representations about the dictatorial history in the classroom. Therefore this analyses attempts to clarify which are the dominated representations, the continuities and transformations, that were taught about the last military dictatorship in the secondary schools of the City of Buenos Aires since the return of democracy in 1983 until 2008. Also it tries to clarify which is the connection between the transformation in the "Narration" in the society and the representations in school.
